Welcome back! Here's a new mini-comic zine for your amusement.
INSPIRATION
I was making a list of ideas to explore. At one point I wanted to write "Victorian Detectives", but strangely it came out as "Vampire Detectives" on paper. I was puzzled, but also excited, because, you know, vampires! And detectives! And that's how this started. It seemed straightforward at first, but working out the script ended up taking quite a while, because there were three main characters to set up, and, I dunno, I'm slow. I do like how it eventually worked out.

ILLUSTRATION PROCESS
I designed the characters in my usual way, playing with shapes in a word processor software. I made a YouTube video about this, as people have asked how I create the art. You can watch this below. And maybe try it yourself.

It was quite a fun process coming up with the various visual elements for this story world. Thoroughly stretched my brain. Maybe the Venus flytrap can have its own mini-comic in the future, who knows, it looks nice on paper.
PRINT AND CUT
As with the earlier zines, you get to print this out, make a cut down the middle, and fold it into the distinctive 8-page pocket zine form that we all know and love.

THOUGHTS
Maybe there's some inherent magic in the vampire genre, because I found the world of these Vampire Detectives especially immersive. I think vampires on the whole are like classic rock stars, always strutting around with great confidence, elegant and edgy in every moment. So cool.

Anyway. Have fun reading this, and have fun making your own mini-comic zine. Here are the download links again, A4 or Letter format, and you can leave a comment here. Take care.
